3 Good Arguments For Not Viewing Pornography

Pornography has become very common on the Internet. Several of the most-visited websites in the world are rated XXX. I’m not here to preach a religious lesson about sex. I just want to share a few practical reasons for going porn free.

I was raised in a conservative home. The mere thought of sex was considered taboo. It’s taken me years to begin to reverse those ideas about human sexuality. That said, I’m not going to lie. I’ve viewed pornography and have found the experience enjoyable. Still, I’ve decided to go porn free.

3 Reasons To Go Porn Free

  1. It’s addictive and can become a waste of time: When we view porn, it triggers a chemical in the brain. After we view a little, the brain wants more. It can become addictive. If you spend time watching pornography, that’s time you could be spending doing something more productive. If you go porn free, you can get more done.
  2. Some of the women in porn are sex slaves: Sex is natural. The birds, the bees, even the ladybugs do it. But some of the women used in pornography are being forced to perform acts they don’t want to. It’s nearly impossible to know what sites and what films include images of women doing things against their will.
  3. The real thing is better: Face it. Cuddling up next to a warm body is much better than masturbation, especially when it’s someone you love. Watching porn is a poor substitute for the real thing. When we go porn free we can spend more time developing real relationships.

A Porn Free Work In Progress

Nobody’s perfect. People still slip. I’m a single guy, you know. Still, I’m committed to a porn-free lifestyle. Here are some articles I’ve found helpful:

If you struggle with viewing pornography, I encourage you to read the articles and ask yourself some tough questions. Do some soul searching and create a plan to start going porn free.

  1. Monitor yourself: Keep track of you behaviors. You might even choose to use a filter on your computer. Knowing your habits is the key to change.
  2. Find a replacement: One way to quit a bad habit is to replace it with a better one. Find something you can do instead of viewing porn. Each time you’re tempted, train yourself to switch to the new behavior.
  3. Know you’re only human: Don’t get too angry with yourself if you slip. Sexual thoughts and actions are human nature. Know that many people struggle with the same issues.
